Picture This: A Summer Day in Georgia

I wish I'd had my camera. I took four kids down to the creek near our house. The girls were wading a little way downstream from where the boys were fishing. I sat on a fallen tree about 15 feet from the bank, enjoying the sound of the creek flowing over rocks in mini-waterfalls while I worked on some notes and kept an eye on the children.

I looked up to see my son's friend standing beside a streamside shrub, preparing to cast his line into the water. The dappled sunlight danced upon his shoulders and hair while an orange butterfly flitted beside the shrub, around the fishing pole, and beside the nine-year old boy on the bank.

A perfect picture, a precious moment to savor.
